Lady Gaga cancelled her biggest show in Asia because of Islamist vigilante threats, which has some worrying about a return of Islamist militancy to the Muslim world's largest country.

Muslim men shout slogans during a rally against US pop singer Lady Gaga's concert that is scheduled to be held on June 3, outside the US Embassy in Jakarta, Indonesia, Friday, May 25. Lady Gaga cancelled her sold-out concert in Jakarta, the biggest on her Asia tour, Sunday, May 28, because of Islamist vigilante threats.

EnlargeFor Lady Gaga?s Indonesian fans, Sunday was a day of mourning. For the country?s 240 million citizens, most of them Muslim, it was the culmination of weeks of debate over whether Islamist hardliners are gaining ground in Indonesia.?

Lady Gaga cancelled her sold-out concert in Jakarta, the biggest on her Asia tour, Sunday due to threats from a group of Islamists who call the American pop star a ?devil worshiper? and complained that her style and dance moves are pornographic.?
The Lady Gaga saga is one of many incidents recently, where Islamist groups have threatened or used violence against what they say are attempts to destroy Indonesia?s religious and moral fabric. Some worry recent events could mark a resurgence of violent Islamist activism that could ultimately threaten the democratic gains Indonesia has made since the end of the Soeharto dictatorship in 1998.
?This is part of the dilemma of the transition to democracy,? says Ulil Abshar Abdalla, head of the department for policy studies within the ruling Democrat Party. ?On one hand we have the phenomena of rising intolerance, and on the other hand we have a weak government unable to address this issue.?
Indonesia is a secular state and has made strides by allowing much greater freedom of speech and expression since the end of Soeharto's rein.
In the years following Soeharto's ouster, Indonesia was wracked by sectarian violence, separatist movements, and Al Qaeda-style terror attacks like the 2002 Bali nightclub bombings that killed more than 200 people. But by the middle of the past decade, Indonesia's transitional crisis had cooled. Militant groups were on the run, and emerging democratic institutions were finding ways to mitigate communal conflicts that earlier had been flaring into violence.
But this month, Islamist hardliners led by the Islamic Defenders Front (FPI) have been throwing their weight around. They injured several people attending an event by Irshad Manji, a Canadian proponent of liberal Islam and a lesbian.? On May 6 protestors in a Jakarta suburb launched stones and death threats to disperse Protestant worshipers forced to pray on the sidewalk since local authorities stopped construction of their church in 2010.
The FPI has a long reputation of vandalizing bars and nightclubs for selling alcohol. It has also violently attacked Christian worshipers and smaller Muslim sects, namely the Ahmadiyah, a group persecuted in many majority-Muslim countries as heretical for not believing that Muhammad was the last prophet.
Rights activists accuse the police of turning a blind eye, allowing the FPI to act with impunity.
?The police over the past decade have basically tolerated the FPI and others, allowing them to grow,? says Andreas Harsono, a researcher with Human Rights Watch Indonesia.

SAN ISIDRO, Colombia (AP) ? Residents of this remote hamlet that lacks running water and electricity, and lives off cattle ranching and coca-growing were preparing a barbeque for Wednesday's planned handover of a French journalist by Colombia's main leftist rebel group.
Village council leader German Pena said more than 1,000 people were expected for the event, for which villagers built a wooden platform with fresh cut logs and planks.
"We killed six cows and two horses. We heard the French eat horse meat," Pena joked.
French journalist Romeo Langlois, 35, was taken by the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia on April 28 when it attacked troops he was accompanying on a cocaine-lab eradication mission, killing three soldiers and a police officer.
He was wounded in the left arm but video images of him said to have been taken the day of his capture and broadcast Monday as a first "proof-of-life" showed him looking relaxed as his arm was sutured and a female guerrilla asked him questions.
Langlois has covered Colombia for more than a decade and was on assignment for France24 television. He has also contributed to the newspaper Le Figaro.
He was to be delivered to a commission including the International Red Cross, former Colombian Sen. Piedad Cordoba and French government delegate Jean-Baptiste Chauvin, who arrived Tuesday night in the Caqueta state capital of Florencia.
It's a roughly seven-hour drive from Florencia to San Isidro on rutted dirt roads that in the current rainy weather develop watery pits that can easily mire four-wheel-drive vehicles.
Reporters with international news organizations invited to cover the handover shared San Isidro's single, partially paved street on Tuesday with small groups of rebels, clad in olive green combat fatigues and carrying assault rifles. The rebels made small purchases at stores or stopped to chat with villagers.
They declined to provide details of the planned handover, saying they were not authorized to comment.
This region of southern Colombia is a stronghold of the FARC, as the rebels are known by their Spanish initials. It is laced with deep jungles, coca plots, fast-moving rivers and villages that appear on no maps.
"War is something we experience almost every day," said Pena. "There have been innumerable battles in this area. We've seen bullets flying on the main street of the village."
The hamlet of about 100 families is 10 miles (16 kilometers) from the larger village of Union Peneya, administrative center of a municipality near where Langlois was captured.
Some of the villagers doing the communal preparation for Wednesday's handover expressed fears they could be targeted by the army for reprisal, accused of collaborating with the guerrillas.
"They think we're part of the guerrilla forces just because we live in this region and for that reason they target us sometimes," said Pena.
At mid-afternoon on Tuesday, a white Russian-made Mi-17 helicopter flew over San Isidro.
Colombia's defense minister, Juan Carlos Pinzon, said the military would suspend operations in the zone for 48 hours beginning Tuesday at 6 p.m.
The FARC, which took up arms in 1964 and which authorities say funds itself largely through the cocaine trade, has an estimated 9,000 fighters. It has recently stepped up hit-and-run attacks on soldiers and police after suffering years of setbacks from Colombia's U.S.-backed military.
The rebels announced in February that they were ending ransom kidnapping, a good-faith gesture made in hopes of launching peace talks.
The FARC released last month what it called its last "political prisoners," 10 soldiers and police it had held for as long as 14 years.
The rebels said in a communique on May 6 that they took Langlois prisoner in part because he was wearing military garb.
The journalist was wearing a bullet proof vest and helmet issued by the military, Pinzon has said, adding that he discarded them during the morning-long firefight with the guerrillas.

Is Travel Insurance coverage Genuinely Essential?
Travel is currently pricey enough, is not it? The cost of air fare, cruises, hotels, ground transportation, food and activities and entertainment are already large adequate. I never know about you, but I function tough for my funds, and when I travel, I want to keep as much of my income in MY pocket as you possibly can. Is travel insurance coverage a necessity or possibly a luxury? Why not cut a number of corners here and there. Why purchase a thing if it?s not really required?
My private solution is, of course, that I?m not independently rich and can?t withstand the potential economic losses if I call for medical care even though I?m traveling. Not being independently rich also implies that I?m while in the market for adequate but inexpensive travel insurance. I suspect that you just are in the identical position, so you, as well need to have inexpensive travel insurance coverage. If you?re nonetheless not positive about that, consider the following.
Did you recognize that should you get sick or are injured although traveling abroad, your medical strategy might not cover every one of the expenditures you will incur? When the expenses of therapy are greater than the maximums of the medical plan, you can be responsible for the difference, unless of course you?ve currently purchased travel insurance coverage. In fact, you could possibly not even be admitted into hospitals in some nations with out proof which you have wellness or medical insurance.
This can be correct for everyone, no matter age or length of time abroad. Suppose you fall ill just a number of hrs right after arriving at your location. Or suppose you produce a day-trip to an additional nation, and also you are injured within a traffic accident. Or suppose among your children is part of a group generating a class pay a visit to abroad, gets food poisoning and calls for hospitalization. In all instances, without having satisfactory travel wellness insurance coverage, you?ll be accountable for the fees over and past the limitations of one?s existing health-related program.
As a result, just before going abroad, you need to make confident that you simply are adequately covered by travel medical insurance that won?t break your spending budget. You need to examine to determine if acceptable coverage is currently accessible to you by means of your medical strategy, employee advantages, and even via a charge card. In the event the coverage is adequate for the demands, you then can appreciate your trip without having incurring the further cost of travel insurance coverage. Nevertheless, if you?re not confident of the coverage, or if your coverage is inadequate or non-existent, then your up coming step should be to analysis and purchase the travel insurance coverage coverage you require.
How Significantly Are you able to Anticipate To Shell out?
When I purchased my first plane ticket to China a number of years ago it cost around $2000 round-trip, and my travel insurance price me more than $500 because I didn?t shop close to for inexpensive travel insurance coverage online.
A number of a long time later, a bit bit older and wiser, and my travel insurance for one more trip to China expense me considerably less?about $300 for roughly precisely the same coverage. The big difference? Just before purchasing my travel insurance coverage for the second trip, I shopped close to on-line and got the coverage I necessary, in the correct price. If I?d have bought my travel insurance for this most current trip from my travel agent, it would?ve price me about $600 for the trip, and my plane tickets only price $1,500! Not exactly the wise method to go.
So how much will it price you? Not as significantly cash as it will cost you in case you get sick or injured abroad and also you never have any travel insurance coverage! That?s the evident answer to the question.
In reality, just how much travel insurance costs will rely in your age along with the kind of coverage you decide on. Standard policies expense as little as $5.50 USD per $1000 of coverage. On the other hand, you are able to assume a total coverage policy to cost you from 7 to 10% from the cost of the trip, depending on your age. The older you will be, the more you will pay out. Regardless of what the price of the policy, nonetheless, it is positive to be a lot much less than the price of medical evacuation!
The good news is the fact that you?ll be able to simply, conveniently and swiftly investigation and locate excellent but low cost on-line travel insurance coverage and lessen the expenses although producing an informed purchase. This really is significantly much better than taking what you are supplied at the travel agency because you can select from numerous travel insurance coverage businesses and polices and conserve by yourself a great deal of funds inside the approach. A single location you?ll be able to start your search is at Travel Insurance Central, http://www.travel-insurance-central.com
What You must Consider When Purchasing Travel Insurance
To help you in your investigation, here are some recommendations to help you make an informed purchase.
1. Consider the worst-case situation. If you can financially withstand the worst-case scenario then perhaps you don?t need to have travel insurance coverage or possibly you do not need a complete policy.
2. Ensure the policy you might be thinking about gives sufficient medical/dental coverage, like health-related evacuation coverage just in situation you require medical care inside a location where the top remedy available is under the specifications you are accustomed to in your nation. This can occur in the event you fall ill in a developing country and even on a cruise ship.
3. Examine your present insurance policies for achievable coverage. There is no sense in having to pay far more for what you previously have in your house owner or tenant policy, such as theft and loss coverage.
4. If you are a frequent traveler, you need to think about annual or year-round travel insurance policies. Often they are called multi-trip travel insurance policies. What ever the title, these policies might be fairly inexpensive when compared to single-trip travel insurance policies.
5. Know what you might be getting, so study the fine print. Make sure that you just recognize what the firm considers to be a respectable explanation for cancellation or interruption. If the list is also restrictive, possibly you should take into account another policy.
6. Never restrict your self to acquiring only out of your travel agent. He/She will most likely only have one company?s solution(s) accessible, and it?s there to your convenience, but that convenience can be quite expensive!
7. Ask a great deal of concerns concerning the coverage. Perform the ?what if? game. Ask for clear explanations of terminology. Make certain that you simply and also the travel insurance coverage company are speaking exactly the same language.
8. Don?t buy the insurance coverage via your transportation provider. If the airline goes bankrupt, how sufficient will your insurance coverage be?
Once You?ve Purchased Your Travel Insurance
Bear in mind that your travel insurance coverage policy addresses you between certain certain dates, so don?t commence your trip early or extend your trip with no first shifting the dates of coverage on your travel insurance coverage policy. Obviously, this may expense you further, but that is less expensive than discovering your self with out coverage whenever you need it essentially the most.
Also, it almost goes without having saying that you need to bring your travel insurance policy with you whenever you go abroad. You can?t consult the policy if it really is sitting on your desk in your own home. You ought to also carry your travel insurance company?s toll-free assistance cellphone quantity and other make contact with data with you wherever you go. It does you no great in the event you get ill or hurt along with the essential policy details is sitting in your hotel room. It?s also a superb concept to bring your regular medical coverage cards and information with you.
I hope these suggestions will help you by the very best travel insurance coverage to suit your needs. Then take your trip using the peace of thoughts that originates from figuring out that you are insured by the correct travel insurance coverage policy on the right cost. Bon voyage!

Once considered a can?t miss prospect, Beanie has had far too many his share of knee issues to make him a reliable fantasy option. He was downright nasty at times last year in posting his first 1000 yard season. Beanie?s total last year was a little less than his total over his first two years.
.
Beanie also had ten touchdowns, which was one more than his previous two seasons. He also missed two games.
.
Over the first two weeks he had 381 yards and six touchdowns. He also lit up the Rams to the tune of 228 yards and a score in Week 12. Clearly there were some high points to his 2011 season.
.
Unfortunately Beanie had yet another knee surgery this offseason. While it wasn?t a serious knee surgery, there is always cause for concern when a player goes under the knife.
.
Not only does Beanie have to deal with the knee issue, he also has the deal with Ryan Williams, assuming he can return from a knee injury of his own. Now Williams is coming off a serious knee injury, having torn ?his patella tendon last summer. Even if he does return, he?ll likely just be the change of pace back for Beanie.
.
The Cardinals did draft Michael Floyd to complement Larry Fitzgerald. If they get competent QB play they will likely continue to be near the bottom of the rushing attempts.
.
Beanie Wells did show some grit by playing, and playing well ,despite knee issues last year. Can he handle another 245 carry season? That?s hard to say. If you do roll with Beanie as one of your top two or three backs, make sure you have insurance.

Pennsylvania electric suppliers are also offering consumers competitive electric rates helping to lower millions of customer's electric bills each month. There is no longer a reason to keep the utility for your supply and delivery services when you can lower your electric supply charges by choosing a competitive New Jersey Electric Provider or Pennsylvania electric provider.
As the summer approaches and you plan to be using more electricity for your air conditioning and fans, you want to be sure you are getting the best rate available. Choices for your supplier can help you control this expense during the warmer months of summer just as they do in the winter season. To switch electric suppliers in New Jersey or Pennsylvania, you need to compare the rates being offered, the type of rate it is (fixed or variable), and then simply select a plan and supplier that offers you the best rate.
By selecting a competitive electric supply rate, you can save a significant amount of money each month depending upon your household or business usage. In addition to saving money, there are no fees to switch to a new electric supplier in Pennsylvania or New Jersey and you will continue to receive your bill from the utility you currently have.
For business customers, you typically want to get quotes from various suppliers or use an online service that can provide the best rates available from top electric suppliers in your area. You can typically either get a fixed or variable rate with fixed rate contracts being the most popular option. These contracts are generally for 6, 12, 24 or 36 months and some can be even longer. However, 12 and 24 months are usually the most popular terms for businesses as the rates are better in the shorter terms.
Today, deregulation has allowed customers the "power to choose" their electric supplier and receive competitive rates. For residents, you can simply make the switch to a new supplier at any time.
In today?s economy, consumers want to save money especially on energy bills. Many states today are deregulating their electric and gas markets and creating a competitive environment for new electric suppliers to help customers save on electric supply charges while the utility continues to deliver the power. To compare residential rates or receive a business quote, visit Make the Switch USA at www.maketheswitchusa.com.

NEWARK, N.J. (AP) ? Moments after sending the New Jersey Devils to the Stanley Cup finals for the first time since 2003, Adam Henrique skated to the corner and waited to be mobbed by his teammates.
It's become a common occurrence for the 22-year-old who spent last season in the minor leagues. He notched the series winner in double overtime against Florida in Game 7 in the opening round, and did it again on Friday night in Game 6 of the Eastern Conference finals, sending the rival New York Rangers packing for the season along the way.
And, oh, how sweet it was for the Devils.
The memory of missing the playoffs last season and the ghost of an 18-year-old wound were wiped out with a sweep of this rolling rookie's stick.
Henrique scored off a wild scramble in front at 1:03 into overtime and the Devils eliminated the Rangers 3-2 to advance to the Cup finals against the Los Angeles Kings.
"I mean, this kid's just at the right place, right time, all the time," Devils coach Peter DeBoer said. "The two biggest goals of the playoffs come off his stick.
"And that's not accidental."
Both goals have been followed by scrums in which teammates surround Henrique and pound on him to celebrate. It's fun, of course, but Henrique is more focused on facing the Kings in a series that will start in New Jersey on Wednesday.
"There's still more things to accomplish," said Henrique, who is a finalist for the Calder Trophy, given to the NHL's top rookie.
"Try to take in as much as I can this whole year. And obviously those are two huge goals, and then probably two of the biggest goals I ever scored. There's still more ahead. We're not done yet. We haven't really won anything. It's a long ride.
"Every kid dreams of playing in the Stanley Cup final. And we have a chance to win. I'm excited, and ready to get started."
After beating Florida, Philadelphia and their biggest rivals, the Rangers, only the Kings stand in the way of a fourth Cup for New Jersey.
"It feels great to get to where we are," Devils captain Zach Parise said. "As Adam said, we still have a lot of work ahead of us. But we've put ourselves in a pretty good position right now, and we've got a chance.
"We'll see what we can do."
This series win came against the Devils' most intense rival, and it was that much more enjoyable ? even to those who haven't been around the feud all that long.
"That one was like Christmas," Henrique said.
It also was needed. The Devils, after all, blew a 2-0, first-period lead and didn't want to head back to New York for a Game 7 on Sunday.
"It didn't matter how it got to overtime, we were in a good position," Parise said. "We were at home. We just needed one shot."
Actually, the Devils needed a few shots to win the game.
Henrique's winner came after Henrik Lundqvist stopped Ilya Kovalchuk twice and Alexei Ponikarovsky. The last shot was in the crease and Henrique tapped it home.
"We caught them on a line change and their defensemen were tired," said DeBoer, who was fired by Florida after missing the playoffs in his three seasons with the Panthers.
"We found a way to jam one in. That's the only way you're going to score on Lundqvist. You're not going to get a clean one. You're going to have to work for it around the net.
"And that's what we did."
Ryan Carter and Kovalchuk also scored for the Devils, whose biggest move this year was hiring DeBoer. He has more than proved his coaching ability.
Ruslan Fedotenko and Ryan Callahan tallied for top-seeded New York, which had a good flurry just before New Jersey scored to end it.
The six Rangers on the ice just stayed down in disbelief and frustration. This was very much like Game 5, which the Devils won 5-3. New York carried the play after the first period and had a 35-29 edge in shots.
But when it came time for a game-deciding play to be made, it was a Devil who made it.
"When they scored, it was such an empty feeling," said Lundqvist, who said the puck took a weird bounce on the final play. "It is shocking."
Henrique overcame injury to score this one. He seemed to take a stick from Brian Boyle in the groin area late in the third and had to leave the ice.
He felt no pain after the game winner.
All the Rangers could do was bow their heads and then line up for the traditional handshake after losing to their cross-rival rivals in a series that was close.
"That's playoff hockey, and that's usually where you get an overtime goal," New York's Brandon Prust said. "Just whacking away in front of the net, getting rebounds."
The ageless Martin Brodeur, 40, kept the Devils alive in the third. He stopped a power-play shot by Brad Richards, made a save on Artem Anisimov between the circles and used his stick to deflect a pass from the boards by Carl Hagelin in the final minute just before it got to Marian Gaborik on the edge of the crease.
"There's a reason why he's the best goalie to play the game," Henrique said. "He gives us that extra confidence every night when we got him back there. He's going to give us the chance to win no matter what, even if we're not playing our best. He seems to make those big saves night in, night out, and he did it again tonight."
Lundqvist's best stop in the third was on Dainius Zubrus on a shot from behind the circles.
Facing elimination and down 2-0 after 20 minutes, the Rangers found their game in the second period and tied it at 2-all on goals by Fedotenko and Callahan in a roughly four-minute span.
Carter, who scored the game winner in New York on Wednesday after the Devils blew a 3-0 lead, put New Jersey ahead again at 10:05 of the opening period on a rebound. Kovalchuk added his seventh goal of the postseason on a power play, his fifth with the extra man.
The Devils ? as is the tradition for many Cup finalists ? did not touch the Prince of Wales Trophy that was presented at center ice. As the team skated off to their locker room, "Glory Days," the 1984 hit from New Jersey rocker Bruce Springsteen serenaded them.
The game was played on the 18-year anniversary of the Rangers' dramatic 4-2 Game 6 victory over New Jersey at the Meadowlands, a win that pushed that classic Eastern Conference final series to a Game 7 and eventually led New York to its first Stanley Cup in 54 years. That game, of course, was preceded by a guarantee from Rangers captain Mark Messier, who delivered three goals en route to the victory.
This time, though, there will be no Game 7.
NOTES: The Rangers became the fifth team to play 20 postseason games without reaching the finals. ... TV personality Donald Trump was at the game. ... Devils C Travis Zajac left the ice briefly in the second after being slashed on the left hand by Prust. No penalty was called. ... New Jersey is 4-1 in overtime in the postseason. New York finished 2-3 after regulation. ... This is only the second time the Devils have defeated the Rangers in the postseason in six tries. ... The last time New Jersey played in the Stanley Cup finals, the Devils also played a California team: the Anaheim Ducks in 2003.

Who Are They?
Realtors are professionals who work as a connecting bridge in between the buyer and seller. Along with that, many real estate agents also work as rental managers wherein they introduce tenant to landlords. There is a difference in between real estate agents and realtors Vancouver. In order to get the title of realtor, a real estate agent must be a member of National Association of Realtors and also must possess many other qualification and educations. Therefore, they are better than a normal real estate agent.
What Do They Do?
Realtors in Vancouver bring together the buying and selling parties, enable them to communicate with each other and perform their deal. In case of rental management, they introduce the tenant to the landlord and discuss about the renting process.
How Do They Do It?
People who want to sell or rent their property leave the details with the realtors Vancouver. The interested party gets the access to the property by contacting a realtor. The agent then evaluate the requirements of buying party or tenant and show them the properties best matching their needs. This is how they work as a hub in between these two interested parties.
Why Should I Hire One?
First and foremost importantly is to protect you from hassle of documentation and threat of investing in a wrong transaction. Purchasing or selling a property requires a pile of documentation and it may not be possible for one understanding everything by him. Realtors in Vancouver can be a great helping hand as they are well aware of entire process and can accomplish it quite comfortably. Along with that, real estate is a big investment and you may end up regretting if not investing in right property. Worth Noting.
It?s a well spread misconception that a realtors Vancouver agent work for both buyer and seller. This way, either of the party may feel his convenience is being underestimated. But this is not the case. Either a realtor works for the seller (if he is seller?s agent), or for the buyer (in case of a buyer?s agent). In some cases, a realtor may work for the transaction itself, neither the seller nor the buyer. Their main objective is to sell the property to the most suitable person. However this is only the case with dual agency/transaction as the law and rules does not permit any realtor to act in favor of any party.
If you are still not sure about the relationship between you and realtors in Vancouver, don?t hesitate to ask. More questions you will ask better will be the chances of making a profitable deal.

DETROIT (AP) ? Plans are moving forward to transform a more than century-old manufacturing site near the Detroit River into an adventure and discovery center with rock climbing, archery and other activities.
The Detroit Free Press and The Detroit News report multi-million dollar plans for the vacant Globe Trading Company complex were discussed at Tuesday?s meeting of the city?s Economic Development Corp.
It is part of a plan announced last year involving the Michigan Department of Natural Resources to expand and enhance the nearby William G. Milliken State Park & Harbor. A local entity created by Detroit-based developer Roxbury Group will do the work and the DNR will buy the facility.
Work could begin this fall and it could be ready in 2013.

Nothing in your engine workers harder than your oil. With hundreds of moving parts, and thousands of explosions every minute, it?s no wonder that engine oil needs to be changed frequently!
You?ve probably heard the old rule of thumb: Change your oil every 3,000 miles/ 5,000 kilometers or 3 months, whichever comes first. But some car manufacturers have introduced extended oil change intervals. They figure that a modern vehicle driven under the right conditions can go for 5,000 miles/8000 kilometers or more between an oil change.
The key phrase here is ?under the right conditions?. If you look at your owner?s manual, you?ll see two different maintenance schedules: one for ?normal? driving conditions and one for ?Severe Service?. Severe service driving conditions include stop and go, short trips, towing, hauling, hot, cold, and dusty driving. That?s why at AutoNetTV we often refer you to the severe service schedule in your owners? manual, because, for most of us Colorado car owners, that?s the way we use our vehicles in everyday life.
Recently, four of the largest auto manufacturers in the world have extended engine warranty coverage for engine damage caused by oil sludge resulting from longer oil change intervals. They found that real-world conditions require more frequent oil changes than the 7,500mi/12,000 km interval they were recommending. They subsequently recommended more frequent oil change intervals and proof of timely oil changes in order to qualify for the extended warranty.
Oil sludge is the culprit. Sludge is oil that has turned to a thick, jelly-like consistency. Sludge can block passages in the engine, preventing oil from lubricating vital engine parts. Parts wear more quickly and may fail prematurely.
Sludge is caused by several factors. The first one is simply ? time. The engine oil is contaminated by exhaust gas that eventually leads to sludge. That is where the recommendation to change your oil at least every three months comes from. Sludge can also come from oil that gets contaminated by water from normal condensation. A few minutes of driving at Colorado freeway speeds allows the oil to heat up enough for the water to evaporate. The problem is we often run errands or take other short trips that don?t allow the engine to warm up enough for the water to evaporate. This is especially true in winter. Sludge also forms when the engine gets too hot, causing the oil to breakdown. Stop and go summer driving, towing and hauling are all prime conditions for creating harmful sludge. And every engine has hot spots that create sludge.
Given all of these factors, estimating when to change your oil is pretty complicated. A couple of manufacturers have computer programs built into their vehicles that record the number of cold starts, how many times the cylinders fire, engine temperature and other factors. From that, the computer estimates when you should change your oil and flashes a warning. But what if you do not have a vehicle with this feature? How do you know when to change your oil? We?re not sure you really can. Which is why it is better to be safe than sorry. 3,000 mi/5,000 km or three months ? whichever comes first ? talk with a service advisor at B-Town Automotive in Berthoud and see if that?s a good recommendation for the way you drive.

Where to start? My hubby and I are both 39. He is still in the military and I use to be. We have been married for 20 years. I found out 7 months ago that my husband has been cheating on me since 2004. I had an injury while in the military that required surgery and my discharge from the military. It was after the surgery and during my recovery when he began to cheat on me. He told all of the women that he dated that we were divorced. During the last 7 years of our marriage, he has had 3 serious relationships, and 6 other casual affairs, some over lapping and some not. At the beginning of his affairs, we were separated, on and off, for 3 years because of military orders, not because we chose to. We were having some difficulties in our marriage at that time, because of his orders, my injury and time apart, but nothing that I thought couldn?t be fixed. Then in 2006, he said he wanted a divorce, over email, while deployed. We talked it out whi le he was away, (or so I thought) and made plans for our next duty station over-seas. If I would have known he had been cheating on me that whole time apart, I wouldn?t have gone over-seas with him. We spent 4 years abroad, and during this time, if he had a TDY/TAD back to the states, he would take leave while there to ?visit family or friends?. This was his time to visit the two women he was currently in a ?long-distance? relationship with. I went back to the states myself, almost a year ago, to help out with my ailing father, and while I was gone, he took a trip to Hawaii with both women. He met one there for a few days, then after she left, the other came for a few days. They didn?t know about each other either?yet. I couldn?t figure out why he was distant and distracted whenever I talked to him on the phone for the four months I was at my father?s place, guess I do now. When I got back home, it was about time for us to start thin king about where we wanted to be stationed next. My husband had been looking at some emails while on my computer, and then accidentally left the account open. I went to close it out and saw an email title saying I love you and address to someone I didn?t know. I clicked on it, and it was an email from his girlfriend that he had been cheating on me with since 2004! After the initial shock, I went back through as many emails as I could find. One of the girlfriends was an old high school friend of ours from 22 years ago. I confronted him when he got home and asked for him to explain the emails. He then told me everything, all of the different women, the two current girlfriends, everything, and that he was so glad that the truth had finally come out. He was tired of living the lie. I told him that I saved all of the emails I found, and that I was going to email the two women he was seeing and tell them what was going on. He emailed them both, too, telling them that he had b een lying to them this whole time.
Now this is where the story gets interesting, if it wasn?t already. I emailed a letter to the two girlfriends, and to two old girlfriends that he had recently started talking to again. The letter was very neutral. I didn?t judge or blame them. He was the one who lied to them, telling them that he was divorced, as far as I was concerned, they didn?t know. All of them wrote back, all of them were shocked. And one of the girlfriends claimed to be pregnant with his child! I told her I would help, if I could, but then she became very strange. She was the one that went to high school with us, and she lived in the same hometown where our college aged daughter lived. She began telling my husband and I that she felt our daughter deserved to know that she was going to have a little half-sister and that if she saw her in public, that she would feel compelled to tell her. My husband and I were still living over-seas and couldn?t do anything but listen to her say over and over again how she ?loved our kids like they were her own? and how she just wanted to make sure that my husband lived up to his fatherly duties. That is when hubby told me the whole story about girlfriend #2. They broke up after their trip to Hawaii in May. She told him in June that she was ?pregnant?. In July she needed money because the baby was ?having complications? and tested positive for Downs, then told him in July/August that she had ?lost the baby? and was in a huge depression over it. Hubby thought that their relationship was finally coming to an end, when he went to the states to see our daughter and get her set up for her first year of college. While he was there he saw girlfriend #2 to ?bring things to a close?. (Everything since their trip in May had been done over email or Skype.) She wanted him to stay with her, he told her he was here for his daughter, they had another fight, and then he left. After he ha d left the state, she had someone call his cell phone over and over, but he didn?t answer it because it was an unknown number. She did this because he stopped taking calls from her. She then called an old friend of his and told the friend that ?hubby? needed to answer her calls because she was pregnant with his child and was going to sue him for all of the medical bills. Hubby was floored. Didn?t she just go through a miscarriage and depression in July/August? She said that she lied about the miscarriage because she wanted to protect his military career. (She had found out in Dec. 2011 that he was still married to me, but continued with the relationship anyway. She also knew that he could get in trouble if I found out she was pregnant and decided to report him to the military. She didn?t want to lose ?military benefits? for her ?baby?.) Hubby told her to send her insurance claims, medical bills, etc. to his lawyer and that after a paternity suit declared him to be the father of her child, that he would take care of his obligations to the child. This went back and forth for 3 months, of her refusing to send proof, trying to ?sick? the military on him, threatening to sue him, and even tried to extort money from him. Hubby then hired a P.I. and asked for them to find out if she really was pregnant. They took photos, video and received statements, over a two-month period (her 7-9 month of pregnancy), that showed her not being pregnant and never had been. We then had our lawyer provide the proof to her lawyer and told them to never contact us, or our daughter, again. To this day, months later, girlfriend #2 still stalks me on my Facebook page and other social media sites. My husband and I are separating and I am moving back to my hometown to be closer to my kids, just in case girlfriend #2 decides to contact or confront them. Girlfriend #2?s ex-husband (who we also went to school with) rece ntly contacted me and told me that GF#2 had done the same things to him that she did to us. Let that be a lesson to the cheaters out there. Do the right thing. Don?t destroy your marriage, family, career and finances because you are unhappy in your marriage or want extra sex. If that is how you feel, then do you and your spouse a favor, get out of the marriage. Don?t get a girlfriend that goes psycho on you, tries to threaten you and your family and destroys your life. Lessons learned!

Baseball Expert Tony DeMarco has been covering the big leagues since 1987, and been casting Hall of Fame ballots for the last 14 years. He answers questions weekly here:
Q: Who is going to be a better major league player, Bryce Harper or Mike Trout? Are there any young players more exciting than these two?
? Danny Bender, New York
A. You can't go wrong here. At this point, there is every reason to believe both will be superstars soon enough.
Trout, born Aug. 7, 1991, is a bit more experienced and ready not only to be an everyday player, but to carry the load for his team. His time in the majors last season helped, as many players say that once you go back to the minors and return to the majors, everything is more familiar and easier.
Look at Trout's improvement from 2011 to 2012:
2011
40 games, 135 plate appearances: .220 BA/.281 OBP/.390 SP, 5 HR, 16 RBI, 4 SB.
2012 (through Monday)
21 games, 92 plate appearances: .350/.413/.600, 4 HR, 12 RBI, 6 SB.
The prevailing opinion on Trout projects him as a .300 hitter/20-25 homer/40-50 steal player who could be a Gold Glove-caliber defender.
Trout's blazing speed could keep him leadoff for a long time, ala Rickey Henderson. But as he gets older, Trout also could drop to third in the order. But either way, he should be among the league leaders in runs scored.
As long as defensive whiz Peter Bourjos stays with the Angels, Trout will be a corner outfielder. And when the Trout LF-Bourjos CF-Mark Trumbo RF combination debuted Monday, the "outfield of the future" label quickly was attached. But Trout certainly has the speed and ability to be an outstanding center fielder.
Harper, born Oct. 16, 1992, has one less year of professional experience than Trout, so he's more of a work in progress ? especially defensively, as he hasn't played much outfield. Remember, he was a catcher for much of his amateur career.
Harper's power potential projects as a No. 3-4 hitter, and in fact, he recently joined this illustrious group of teenagers who hit big-league homers on back-to-back days: Mickey Mantle, Harmon Killebrew, Tony Conigliaro, Gary Sheffield and Ken Griffey Jr.
But what has been equally impressive about Harper's early big-league experience is how well-rounded his game is ? speed, powerful throwing arm, aggressive base-running, etc. Harper projects as more of a .300 hitter/40-45 homer/25-30 steal type.
Nobody really knows what these two are capable of doing in the future. But it's sure going to be fun to watch and see how they develop.
Q: Since the Orioles still are in first place in the AL East, should they look to push stud pitcher Dylan Bundy to the majors sooner rather than later?
? Mike, Baltimore
A: We're talking about separate issues here. No prospect ever should be rushed just because of the big-league team's place in the standings. And that's certainly not going to be the case here, as Bundy is in low-A ball, far from the majors at this point.
For the uninitiated, Bundy ? born Nov. 15, 1992 ? was the fourth-overall pick in the June 2011 draft, behind fellow pitchers Gerrit Cole, Danny Hultzen and Trevor Bauer.
Bundy's numbers for the Dalmarva Shorebirds of the South Atlantic League are among the most eye-popping I can remember: 30 innings, 5 hits, 2 walks, 2 HBP, 40 strikeouts. Ridiculous, right?
But again, he was pitching in high school a year ago at this time, and a likely promotion or two still will top him out at the Double-A level this season. Maybe we'll see Bundy in an Orioles uniform in 2013 at the earliest, but only if his success continues as he rises through their system.
As for the Orioles' early success this season, most signs are pointing to an upcoming regression, especially considering their AL East competition. A run differential of +12 through Monday points to a 23-20 record, rather than the Orioles' 27-16 mark.
The staff's ERA of 3.58 also is on the rise. We're already seeing hot April starters Jason Hammel and Wei-Yin Chen take a few lumps of late, and five relievers currently have ERAs of well under 2.00 ? unlikely to continue.
The good news is the offense should continue to be productive, led by AL MVP contender Adam Jones, Matt Wieters and Nick Markakis, so a winning season certainly is a possibility. And given pre-season expectations, that should be considered a great step forward for the organization if it happens.Q. Derek Lowe is pitching out of his mind and the Cleveland Indians are in first place. Can either keep it up?
? John Lawson, Cleveland
A. Probably not in either case. But that doesn't mean Lowe won't have a solid season, or the Tribe won't stay in the AL Central race ? at least as long as the Tigers keep stumbling around .500.
Remember, the Tribe finished 80-82 last season, so a jump to the 90-win mark isn't a huge stretch, especially with one of the game's underrated managers in Manny Acta in charge.
However, through Monday, the Indians had a run differential of -4 despite being five games over .500. Occasionally, a team can win a division with a negative run differential ? the 2007 Diamondbacks (90-72, -20 run differential) are a recent example ? but it's very difficult. The 2005 Padres also did it, but won the NL West with an 82-80 mark and a hard-to-believe -42 run differential.
At this point, the Indians are middle-of-the-AL-pack in terms of team offense and pitching, and besides Lowe, Asdrubal Cabrera, Jason Kipnis and closer Chris Perez, the individual numbers are nothing special.
But they are fourth in the majors in on-base percentage, and they're staying healthy ? with only one use of the disabled list (Rafael Perez) since Grady Sizemore's spring loss.
A series this week against the Tigers ? the teams' first meeting in 2012 ? isn't crucial, but could indicate how that very important season series will go.
As for Lowe, give him credit for rebounding from a terrible (9-17-5.05) 2011 season in Atlanta and doing what he's done ? first in the AL wins, second in ERA ? as his 39th birthday approaches on June 1.
However, Lowe's strikeout rate is alarmingly low even for an extreme sinkerball pitcher ? only 15 Ks in his first 58.2 innings (as opposed to 18 walks), and that doesn't bode well. But you can be sure Acta will be satisfied if Lowe amasses close to 200 innings with anything lower than a 4.00 ERA.
